·Hello, watch masters, would love to get your help!
This is my first post as a member of a forum, glad to join.😀
I’m a total newbie to collecting/investing in watches, but I do have some basic knowledge. I’ve always found the movement of mechanical watches fascinating, which made me watch some videos here and there.
I recently won an Omega Seamaster 600 on auction, which I on a whim decided to bid on. And later realized I should have done some research before, and that’s when I found this forum.
I just fell in love with the “plain”, basic look of the watch. Just a simple, yet elegant piece of a watch.
I bought it from a respectable auction house where I live, and that makes me believe it’s not fake at least.
The issue is that I have no idea what the actual price could be, if any detail on the watch has been replaced, etc. I found some similar watches on chrono24 but they range all from 550-1600$. I paid around 550$
All info I got from the auctioneers is that; the crown is replaced with an Omega crown and that the crystal is polished.
My untrained eye tells me that the dial looks okay, and the hands should be original (Read somewhere that the second's hand, and minute hand should be the same length.) Compared to other watches it looks like the crown is of the wrong type. I think that the strap is not original, haven't seen any with a stretch metal band.
I think that the reference number is 135.011, from the comparisons I’ve made.
This is my first mechanical watch and my budget could survive it. I’ll be satisfied, no matter what, because I wanted it.
I will be buying a new strap for it, I think I’ll buy one made from leather. Any idea what to get? I'm open to all suggestions, would love for you guys to enlighten me!
