    Hi all,

I wanted to share with you my very first vintage watch. I know it isn't perfect but I think it's stunning.

I haven't got the guts to open it up as I have no idea what I am doing so if you guys can tell me anything about my new prized possession I would be hugely grateful.

    Thanks!

Welcome! More pics would be helpful, like one of the back. My guess from the single pic is that it’s a SM DeVille- pre Deville. What that means is they went to a front loading case around ‘61-62 for the sleeker Seamaster sub-series but didn’t brand the dial as Seamaster Deville until a year or two into production.
    Should have a 562 movement.
    Mine says hi.

    Thanks!
I’m sticking with my guess of ‘61-62 SMDV (that’s the acronym for Seamaster Deville) with 562 movement which has the semi-quickset date (9/12). if you haven’t had it serviced yet- do it soon. If it’s been more than a decade since it last had a drop of oil in it, you are nine dry in there.

Yeah I have been looking for places to get it serviced. I don't want to give it to just anyone but I want to look after it so will get it done ASAP. It would be so cool if it turned out to be from 1961 as that is my mum's birth year!

Thanks so much for your help

Let us know where you are in the world and someone can recommend a watchmaker.
