A bruised and slightly battered 1969ish Speedy professional Mark 2 with first generation bracelet (with the 154 ends) arrived today:-non original clasp funnily enough, I've been nervous and fidgety all week. I've never purchased anything over 1000 euro online before. Yes I'm going to get it serviced when the replacement crystal arrives, and no I'm not going to do a complete overhaul /case polish and refurb, just the movement- I like the dullish patina with the original sunburst sneaking through.I want to keep it original as possible...... and yes I'm going to turn the second hand off (soonish), and yes I'm going to probably wear it every day for weeks. And yes I'm in love! And yes I really do hope to stop buying watches for a while and sell some of the ones I'm never likely to wear again now this behemoth is here! Surely this, an italian Chronostop, and 2 JLC's is enough. The other watches will hardly get a look in!!
Congrats! At the end of the day it all comes down to you and the watch you are truly happy with. Cheers!
That's great, I love my mk2 speedy and I reckon they're awesome value for money in the vintage world of watches. Looks great.
Thanks for your kind comments. Do you think we can call Spacefruit the self confessed speedy pedant over here to tell me if its 69 or 70? Serial is 29,63xxxx. It was advertised as coming from the first batch of mark 2 produced and the 154 bracelet end numbers seem to suggest this an early production run. Is there anything else ( short of getting one of those documents from Omega) I should be looking for to place it as assembled/ produced in 69 or 70? I'd love to think it was put together in the same year as the moon landing...
