I tip my hat to George for his profundity and honesty. A man of his word. Thank you and it's been a pleasure. I know I could never go wrong with "First Omega in Space" as my very first Speedmaster!
The hands are very distinctive. That is an awesome speedy for your first one. As the experts say here, " Wear it in good health."
The Speedmaster genre has been copied by numerous other brands........but has never been bettered. This is the 'Daddy' of all chronos
Boy child that is an outstanding watch...in fact I see one of these in my future as well! Steve, welcome to the forum, but I have to call you on your statement...there are many outstanding chronographs out there just look through the WRUW thread here. Even though I am a big fan of the Speedmaster (have one on my wrist as I type this) and I admire your enthusiasm, your statement sounds a little naive and fanboyish.
Point taken, but I have personally never seen a chronograph with such provenance that does exactly what it says on the tin with no 'bling' or useless extras. Perhaps you could suggest some that I could look at excluding rare £20,000 military watches ?
Lemania makes several, the Zenith El Primeros come to mind and there are many more...like i said above just scan through the WRUW thread in this forum and you will see some spectacular chronographs with much "provenance" and little "bling."
Thank you for bringing to my attention the Zenith El Primeros, nice watches but too pretty and shiny. The Speedmaster is such an iconic design you can still buy the same Speedmaster 'look' today, 50 years later?
Truly beautiful timepieces What model is the last one....I REALLY like that. I wish I could buy a different variant each month.
It is a Speedmaster Day-Date (also known as the triple date) Ref. 3220.50 cal. 3606 (ETA 7751) with a case size of 40mm, a bit smaller than the classic Speedie. These seem to be the red headed step child of the Speedmaster world, they don't get a lot of respect from the Speedmaster "experts" but I like it, with a sapphire crystal and the smaller size it makes a great daily wearer.
Lol I agree with you entirely on this, it is a smashing looking watch and I am now off to ebay and Chrono24 to do some research. Maybe some company in the future for my 1971 Speedmaster c861.
