My First Professional....

Well my first true nice watch actually. I guess I'm a Swatch Group strategist dreams. Started with quartz Swatches, auto Swatches, Hamilton Khaki and now a Speedmaster. The initial feeling of guilt for spending the "rainy day" funds on this watch have quickly subsided. It is really that much better in the flesh. The overall look, the domed Polyglass crystal, the action of the chrono and the way it looks just right on the wrist regardless of occasion. Favorite part so far? I just noticed that there is a tiny Omega etched into the center of the crystal. I am so glad i waited it out for a Professional and not a cheaper variant.

After getting over my initial phobia of winding the watch (i know, i was scared bc of the increased resistance and the crown rolling back), I have not stopped admiring it. I think the next plans are to add a black leather NATO to the rotation to reduce the scuffing on the bracelet.

I also want to thank George on this forum for the excellent buying and after sales experience. He helped me out from initial discussion to getting the damn thing wound.

As an aside, does anyone know of alternative to the factory leather Rally strap?

Classic. Iconic. Or even better, in my opinion, the most iconic watch ever produced...

Concerning your kind question on a bracelet, I own the Professional ref. 38705000, originally with a leather one. It was beautiful but I preferred a steel one - above all in summer.

So i went with the NATO for now but will get a nice leather strap at some point in the future. As you can see i went a bit Speedmaster overboard with the pic but I am a bit fanatical about this watch at the moment. I love how it blends in with the sea of Submariners but the watch guys always seem to notice it and comment on how nice it is.

Thank you all for the great advice and comments!

I still prefer the look of the steel bracelet but I have only worn to the office a few days and already picked up some "patina". Honestly, it'll just take some time before I just ignore that and just enjoy the watch.

Cheers!
