Morning all, I'm a watch lover and perpetual tinkerer.... (do quite a bit of wood and metal work as serious hobbies)

Picked up a seamaster GMT a month ago as my first Omega.... it had been through a motorcycle crash and the bezel and insert were pretty beaten up.

Didn't just want to polish it to death!!!! So after some VERY careful and meticulous work over the last few weeks I've finally gotten all the surfaces back to a state I'm happy with. (And an aftermarket bezel insert)

    Loving this piece now!

@nikbrown - Welcome. Can you share more about how you swapped out the bezel? I really like that look. I have been wanting a GMT, but I really do not care for the original bezel, and really do like the look of your new bezel.

Makes me wish Omega actually made it!

    More precisely :

    - GMT
    - non AC dial
    - all black 24 hr insert
    - PO red tip seconds.

Yea getting the original bezel insert off was a bitch! Because it snaps in... it is hard to remove and impossible to do without damage to it unless you have the tools to remove the entire bezel (just prying it off with a knife won't work).

The bezel retention on the GMT is retained with a bent wire locking it in place with a grove on the case and an opposite grove on the inside of the bezel. I've removed bezels of this type on other brands no problem.... but because omegas tolerances are so tight I was never successful removing it

I managed to get a knife under the aluminum bezel insert and pop it off..... but you WILL damage your bezel insert doing it this way!
