My First Omega (Case is slightly thicker than spec?)

50 years that Omega is saying a Speed's diameter is 42mm.... I don't think 0,25 mm difference in thickness is a tell of anything...

Bph. And yes the weight would be wrong assuming you can control for missing link weight (if any)
BPH (beat rate—should be 7 beats per second, not 8), true, though I think I did read somewhere about the newest superclones using 3.5hz now..: But again, I really don’t think this is a fake watch.

To explain what I meant earlier, when it comes to fractions of a mm (a few tenths) you’re getting into variables like how snug the caseback is, how tightly you’re clamping down with the caliper, how accurate your caliper is, and how precise Omega’s own spec is. If it were off by a whole mm or even a half mm, I might wonder. But not the measurement the op provided. To me, that’s within “tolerance.”

PS if it went through the eBay authentication process, I’d get it properly pressure tested at a boutique or AD, as they may have opened it up for inspection and I wouldn’t necessarily trust them to have tested it before sending it on to you.

That is unfortunate, thank you for the heads up.

I don't think this is fake either from what Ican see.

Having posted this, I’m not finding the article now. I’m willing to consider (and hope) that it’s a false memory… But I do feel like I read that somewhere.

Thank you all for your input here, I'm no longer concerned it that it may be fake based on thickness alone.

Evidently I was only searching for the closest boutique, but in fact there is an AD closer to me located in Destin, FL. I'll call them to see if they can pressure test it. I have to get some links removed anyway, so I'll kill two birds with one stone.

To be fair, the speedmaster case does measure 42mm, it's the bezel that doesn't. That's not the same as OPs watch, which should measure at 41.01mm bezel diameter, 13.88mm height, and 48mm lug to lug.

Don’t be surprised if they can’t do one (not every AD can), or if they charge a small fee for doing so.

I checked the movement with a neodymium magnet, and it wasn't affected at all. (Every other watch I own stops when the magnet is applied.)
Who the hell checks the movement with a magnet?

You can add this to the list of things you don't know Den but the Original Speedmaster 2915 was around 38mm diameter. The 2998 onwards was nearly a mm wider because it used a wider bezel. Then the Pro, using the same bezel got fatter around the mid case and ballooned to 42mm as they changed the measuring critera. I don't blame you for not knowing this since you are a Seamaster fan.

I have heard that is the easiest way to check if an Omega watch with the new Co-Axial movements are fake

It is a concern. I see so many replica watches sold in the Caribbean. Not really very good knockoffs. I sat next to a guy on the ship once. He had a lot of chinese knockoffs. So I worry about not getting a true watch, which is why I seek an authorized dealer if I can.
