My first constellation!

Ive just purchased my first pie pan constellation. After some research i believe it is 14381 model without offically certified logo which was made for short period in 1959. Also the movement serial number which is 17XXXXXX checks out to be from 1959~1960. I was wondering if you guys can give me any additional information about this watch and check if it is all okay thanks.

Ive learnt from the forum members that the dial should be left alone unless it is necessary to refinish the dial. However is there anything i can do to the dial to reduce the patina around bottom/right side of the dial?
Also do guys think the arrow heads are stainless steel?

Everything looks original and correct. Dial is rare. (leave it alone).

oh man that's a beauty. it looks exactly as a well-preserved 50's pie pan should. that watch oozes pure snazz and I would wear it with pride.

Nice piece. You will come to love the patina on the dial. It gives it character in my opinion.

Beautiful watch! Congratulations. Don't let anyone touch the dial. I do suggest getting it checked and possibly serviced by a watchmaker if you intend to wear it.

Yeah, leave that dial alone! Get it serviced and love it. If the patina (damage to some of us) on the dial bothers you, then resell it to someone who will appreciate it and buy one that’s in better shape- but don’t monkey with that watch.

Thanks ive got it serviced and it is running 3~5seconds a day. Its amazing how well this vintage watch runs.

I got it serviced and it is running impeccably. I will enjoy every bit of untill then!

Amazing looking watch and a good deal on it, congratulations! These old 551 movements are incredibly accurate when properly regulated.

I can't think of any situation where a refinished dial trumps an original dial. Wear it in good health! You've officially been bitten by the watch bug - Enjoy the ride 👎

An alternative to refinishing the dial, which would be imprudent, is to clean the dial. But this often destroys the lacquer and renders the dial more sensitive to additional oxidation, so should only be used in extreme circumstances. I would leave this dial as it is and enjoy wearing it.
