We call where @MtV lives the "Big Canton" 😀

And I’m not gonna mention how “we” call where you live, because it’s not particularly friendly. 😁

Last time I went, they wanted something like 250CHF from me for basically driving at a speed at which I would've been considered a hardly moving obstacle here. I don't know. Not feeling it. 😉

Well... Switzerland has many lovely attracting things ! Mountains, cheese, chocolate, lakes, ..., and occasionally a few nice watch companies... 😉

In fairness, they didn’t charge any VAT whatsoever for that ticket!

I also think this a 168.019 C-case since it doesn't have the fluted bezel, I have seen these come up occasionally, but i dont usually see them with the matching bracelet and the day date 751 movement, but I am glad i clicked in, when i saw 60's constellation and was hoping it was a c-case.

Please do share in the c-case thread how you get along with this one, its a beautiful piece.

I said 029 because I do believe the bezel is knurled/fluted. It's tough to tell from this picture. The one picture definitely looks smooth. Typically the fluted bezels are much deeper and pronounced and really stand out. But I've seen other solid gold c-cases where they are quite fine grooves. I've attached a comparison. Of course the caseback will tell the true story.

interesting, the examples i saw had this same fine radial lines but the 019 caseback, but if collecting c-cases has taught me anything, the shear variety amongst the c-cases is insane, and a lot of things seem to have happened a bit different in different regions.

I just realized the example I posted is actually a double stamped 009/017 so it doesn't really tell us anything. From my notes 009s are typically only smooth bezels. Guess I was jumping to conclusions because the bezel looks "obviously" fluted (or at least not smooth) to me. So yea, you could definitely be right.

I think you have to be careful about bezels on c-cases.

Desmond's essay suggests that the earlier 'non-fluted' bezels should have a 'sun guilloche' finish (essentially a distinct radial brushed finish) but there have been so many early c-cases turn up with a non-brushed bezel that it follows that this was an intended authentic variation.

it is possible that the finish we see on the OPs bezel and the gold example you posted above was reserved for solid gold models.
(it would be interesting to see if they have ever shown up on a gold cap or steel version )
