Thanks for the info; I don't like bracelets, but damn those flatlinks enter my dreams sometimes 😁

If I found one I'd probably not let go

That one has been sold and relisted a few times but the same seller- not a good sign
Yeah. The Brasil one. Very strange...

I've never seen a chipped crown before either, maybe all the buyers back out after they get a deeper look

I've been watching this one as well - seems common to cancel last second if the bids are not high enough, maybe that happened with the previous auctions? The Japanese watches with sky high pricing also make me laugh... but they make folks think the watches are worth way more which would lead to more cancelled auctions last minute.

When I see this I stay very far away.

I’ve bought from this seller. 20 years on eBay, over 3100 transactions, 99% rating.

Why? Very typical for eBay buyers not to honor their purchase commitments.

I doubt this was the case. Seller does an active business for many years and is not going play games with a Seamaster 120. Just sell it and on to the next sale.

If you are looking for pristine vintage watches, Mexico and South America is not the place to shop. If you seek honest, highly original but worn examples and at realistic prices, these countries (including established sellers in Peru) have great deals.

Like this 2914 PAF Flightmaster for example 😀:

And these as well

edit: Full disclose regarding the above Ed White’s originality. Although it did come with a 7912/6 bracelet (real #6s btw), the dial was incorrect as it was actually a 2998 dial........ which was more than fine with me. These are the kind of watches to be found in Mexico and South America.

Good points- not trying to throw shade on the seller. I have purchased several great deals from our friends south of the US border.
It is unfortunate when buyers back out of what should be a binding contract- multiple times in this case- it does cast doubt on the watch and thus sadly taints the sale on future tries.

I view multiple listings for an item as described as an added risk. Agree buyers flake but when it is a seller out of Brazil it makes me more cautious especially with a heavily faked watch. Obviously, hearing that you have had positive experiences with the seller changes the analysis but without that knowledge I would stay away if I were interested in the watch.

Perhaps I’m missing something. Why do you describe this SM120 as “heavily faked”?

My experience is there have been a lot of these watches put together and outright fakes. Even the first post in this thread (by you) has an example. I honestly haven't looked at this example posted but I think a multiple relists of a watch from South America is an added risk.

Oh you're not wrong - I just purchased a watch from S. America for the first time a few months back, it was a pleasant experience but I purchased it knowing it needed the correct crown and a few other things addressed. I suppose I never thought about the the buyer on EBay potentially just not paying as it's not something I would do. That Flightmaster is pretty cool!

Under appreciated model. Even with my larger wrist, I love the way they wear.

I think they are getting a lot of appreciation lately considering what they have been fetching.

Even though this is the ladies version, if it had the date too, I'd probably buy and try to pull it off 😁

There are 2 normal size Afghan versions on eBay - I had no idea about them but tbh not really into them

Ever since I started occasionally checking for 120's, I haven't seen 1 handwind model with date yet
