It is a nice watch indeed - but I would prefer it with an original bezel, this one seems to be aftermarket...

    Really?
please explain because I would have called that original.
I do see a lot of variation in these, and many do look hand engraved - but I don't know if that is because that's how they they were made or if they were replacements.

Ah so you're the owner of that one, there's a higher res version of that first image you must have posted a year or two ago that I had as my desktop wallpaper for some time, great patina!

This is the bezel version for 2915 -1 judging by the font.

AFAIK the bezel layout and font for 2915 -2 - is the same as on the black base 1000 bezel which was used on 2998 -1 (you can say they are just black and white "negatives" to each other) - and this type of bezel has a DON !
But I will stand corrected by the real Speedy experts as I am still on a steep learning curve - what tells the book?

Regardless of bezel correctitude (might have just invented a word) that dial colour is glorious.

The book has 2 vintage steel bezels featured - A1 and A2 and notes they may be found in all 3 2915 references. However the bezel in the watch here has the typography consistent with the A1 bezel but has several other discrepancies with this bezel. Erich may be right that this is a later production.

    thanks!

i wonder just how much variation there is - if they were hand engraved, there might be. If machine then there should not be.

I am no expert about the abilities of engravers, but my "common sense" or gut feeling tells me that it is impossible to engrave such a bezel by hand.
The shallowness and fineness of the numbers and hatches - they are so regularly and evenly executed - leads me to the assumption that they were rather etched than engraved... just a thought (no proof though)...
