Hope I’m not breaking forum rules, but does it get any better than this?
Wore this daily since July 2021. Banged up but each scratch tells a story. Can’t get my self to get another watch (stellar financial decision). Four year appreciation post!

👏👊
Outstanding level of control and restraint.
I have an online shopping addiction that I try to convince myself is really a watch collecting addiction.
Have an early teens black SMP300D myself and bought one each for both my sons - whilst other watches inc. those that wear the crown often get wrist time - when we go out on special occasions together, the 3 x SMP's come out...to me the best watch ever made (even better than my Overseas, perhaps not in quality or horology, but certainly in every day wearability and suitability, do it all - for all situations)...
Bought same watch for my son's medical school graduation. I'm jealous every time I see it.
Long shot, but if anyone has one in the Toronto area lmk!
You could have just left your watch to your son in your will. Now he is going to have two of the same watch... alas, do the kid that inherit these intend to wear the watches? Me thinks not. Pre-owned Rolex sales (well, at least the number available for sale) have exploded since 2020 as baby boomers die. The heirs just would rather have the money than a nice watch.
That’s a bold opinion on someone else’s wallet, and watch. Maybe let them make their own financial decisions without the unsolicited commentary.
It took me a while, I had to eat dinner, but I figured your comment out. You misread what I said.
I asked him why he bought two of the exact same watches. Nothing wrong with that; I assume he really likes it. I did not suggest he buy pre-owned.
I could care less if he mortgaged his house to buy the watch or dipped into petty cash. People make their own decisions about how to spend their money. I never tell people how to spend it, other than my idiot brother who is living off me, and that does me no good.
I was pointing out, that if he is like me, getting old, the watch will transfer on his death. Maybe not to the same son. I don't know.
Then I pointed out that I find it that kids today who inherit expensive Rolex watches put a lot of these up for sale as evidenced by the proliferation of available watches that are sold pre-owned. For instance, every jewelry store in the Caribbean is selling pre-owned Rolexes. So are all the ships stores (I cruise a lot) that I have traveled on. Alas, the young today just don't seem to care... This was only an observation, as I would think his son probably said I like your watch and he bought one for him. However, now that I read the post, he doesn't say he bought his son the same watch he owns but the same watch you have... so I misread his post...
Again, people can do whatever they like with their money and it is a very nice gesture for him to buy his son such a nice watch on his medical school graduation.
To clarify, I'm jealous because this is my Seamaster 300. I can't bring myself to spend more then $2500 for a watch for myself. If you look close it has a hair in it. Going to pick it up tomorrow though hair free.
Thanks, it really is! I know it’s bad to get enamoured with material things but it puts a smile on my face in the toughest of days.
