I wonder if it is normal for an Omega case to have more than one code stamped inside the back?

I am a newcomer to the serious watch world, looking for a usable everyday automatic. I have seen a number of Seamasters with this arrangement - all of them chronometers. There are at least 3 listed on the bay of dreams at the minute, 2 from the same seller.

Hopefully the photos will make the question clearer.

Thanks for any advice and help.

    Thank you.

I see the one on the left in your post is the same though. The ones I have posted differ.

Checking the code references on the Chuck Maddox site they codes don't contradict. It just looked a little odd to me. Perhaps this is a way of conveying additional information within the limits of a 3 figure code? In this case, chronometer and date function?

Ah. I missed the letters. As I said - new to all this.

    Wow.

So - more than one code number is not a show-stopper on a potential purchase, then?

No, if the movement caliber is correct for one of the references. There is many Omega's with two references in the caseback.

    Here is a Ref. 166.010:

    Here is a Ref. 168.024

They are the same watch, except for the language on the dial and the fact that the movement was tested before installation.

That's why they have a dual reference on the caseback.

Thanks very much for the explanation - very clear.

I have to say the more research I do, the dumber I feel.
