Hi everyone Maybe breaking news ... I have been looking for a 42 mm sized super compressor watch so been looking on eBay and they pop up every so often . Then I noticed a Mulco Escafandra On the bay ... Then another one ... One seller has two one in Ohio then one on Oz .... All with 7-62 dated caseback . Just looks odd to me the inside case back appears printer as opposed to stamped into the metal , exterior case back looks good except no model ref . I am by no way an expert on these but just odd and so many up with exact same details . Just do a search on eBay for them . There are a few that are either 36 mm or a few with other year stamping. Also if you do a google search on Mulco Escafandra a article from fratello watch site is listed but when you go to the link the article has been removed ! Will see if I have the article cashed on a machine in my office ... Just be careful ! Sorry for no pics just doing this on my phone while waiting on a site. Good Hunting Bill Sohne
Yeah, I didn't like the dials at all, nor the "uncommon" case backs. Correct ones do go for decent money, but still a very odd choice to fake, given the thin market.
Hi tony We been talking about these examples for the last week or two . Plus the one in oz has pics from the fratello article ? ! Maybe authors watch ? Selling on the bay ? Bill
True enough, but one might have said the same about Polerouter Subs when the Ozzie fakes were made. Perhaps it has to do more with available parts than with market.
hi everyone.... just got to a computer... well i think we broke the story just before the retraction article posted. i was able to retrieve cached copy of the original article... and saved as pdf... not sure how to attach it here... but i was able to download all the photos from the article ...and attached here.. also a link to see with some captions.. http://webcache.googleusercontent.c.../+&cd=7&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us#jp-carousel-30399 i saved a pdf of the original article.... pm me if you cant read it from this google cache link.. http://webcache.googleusercontent.c.../+&cd=7&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us#jp-carousel-30399 Good Hunting bill Sohne
I've seen a few of these on Ebay in the last couple of months and thought the interior case markings looked laser etched, or at least unlike any other contemporary Super Compressor. Good to see the Fratello watches website is on top of it. Like the Fortis Marinemaster fakes the watch pictured does NOT have the spring inside the caseback - which you would expect to see in a Super Compressor.
Funny, I thought I was the only one who noticed the spate of these so called escafandras popping up... Good to know that some of my too many searches are shared by others. Wasnt an Ohio address also home to many of the old Polerouter fakes?
