Movement 563 Questions

Hey there! I’ve just purchased my first Omega, a 1970 Seamaster Deville 14K with a cal 563.

Totally new to mechanical watches, so my apologies if these are dumb questions. It’s keeping time perfectly, but I’m having some issues with the date set. The crown seems to only have two positions - in , and out. It’s possible I’m being too delicate for fear of damaging the watch.

The only way I can find to change the date is to rotate the hands a full 24 hour cycle. I’m sure there must be a better way? I’ve googled and seen mention of a push-pull technique between positions 2 and 3, but as stated my watch only seems to have two positions. Am I missing something?

Thanks!

Update - I was definitely being too gentile. There is a third position and the date skip works as expected. Anything else I should be aware of with this movement? Thank you!

Yes - do not, under any circumstances, use the date quickset roughly between 9pm and 3am. To be safe, I'd always first set the time to 6 (no matter if am or pm), then set the date. If you do use the quickset during the hours close to midnight, the date mechanism is already engaged and could be damaged.

Otherwise: Enjoy. 😀

Yikes! Thanks so much for the advice - and glad I figured out the date adjust during the daytime!
