Just saw that Analogshift listed a Movado Tempomatic for a whopping $4,500 - with a less than stellar dial condition as well. Seems pretty ridiculous, especially given that the dial condition seems pretty terrible and I've seen exponentially nicer examples go for less in the past. Am I missing something here LOL

Think of Analog/Shift more as an art dealer, rather than a regular watch dealer. Do some reading about how the art world works (auctions and dealers) and you'll understand.

Ahhh that's quite interesting. In fact I actually studied sociology of art as a minor in college! 馃槣
I've been following these guys for quite a while now, but never really looked into them all that much apart from the fact that they were always asking for very inflated prices and never really knew who was purchasing from them.

It's a mystery to everyone except the buyer and seller. I do enjoy looking at their offerings and descriptions. Usually, dealers withhold their expertise on the internet but Analog/Shift freely shares those historical tid bits so I appreciate it.

It's a shame they don't show the movement or the inside case back.

I still think their watches are overpriced even with their knowledge and colorful mustache jokes

I agree, I periodically check their offerings not to buy anything but just to read about the background of some of the pieces they are offering. Their prices, though, are generally not even in the ballpark of what I would consider competitive.

I remember - their speedys are often 40-50% higher than the market.

But they stand behind their watches. I got a full refund a few years after purchasing when I discovered a problem with the watch.
