Is it just me or was the guy reaching for his pocket peacemaker?

It's really easy to get a syphon brew wrong and massively over-extract ... but once you understand it, it makes a great coffee. And, yeah ... it is just like a chemistry experiment. It makes fun viewing at a dinner party, particularly if everyone's drunk enough already.

Sometimes the barista of a loud mad coffee house during rush hour can be forgiven for mis-hearing your name & mis-spelling it on the coffee cup.....

A ● That's Ursula's coffee & I bet it smells great !
B ● I hope no 0ne did a number two in Chad's coffee.....
C ● The customer's name is Virginia...
I mean....Come 0n...Really People ??!!
D ● Igmar visited Starbucks three times & they just couldnt get her name right on the coffee cup ! b3b0b56ce2e85c6c8c1690a5a52a1544.jpg

We hit 'Detroit Rock City' last week during our rotation...unfortunately, I had to venture to 'The Dark Side' and get Starbucks since there was no Dunkin' at the airport...but as my dad used to say..."It's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!"

I just do this on weekends since there are no bodegas out here in the CA suburbs.

For the same reason, weekdays I just drink the terrible single-serve stuff at work because it's free and convenient.

Yeah sure I could get better coffee - that machine is a brewer/grinder that I bought thinking I'd find some good coffee out here - but I don't really need anything more.

CA suburbs
West Coast Roasting do deliveries by mail - I know California's a big place but they're in LA. If you're in the north, there's some fantastic roasters in Eugene and Portland that will mail out and, let's face it, Peet's is everywhere over there ... isn't it?

It seems there are a few people on here who are as addicted to the black life giving liquid as I am, so let's see what you're brewing.

I'll kick us off, seeing as it's Sunday, with a long and lazy monsooned malabar brewed in a syphon:

Been forever since if seen Monsooned Malabar. Such a neat and unique coffee.

I've never used an Elekra but they are so sculptural I don't think I'd even need them to make a decent cup

Might be worth a shot, but I'm happiest with bodega coffee and this is close enough! Haven't been to Peet's but I think I'm gonna skip as I haven't yet met a chain coffee that I've truly liked - especially given that it costs more than twice what it does from a bodega or cart

Nothing spectacular here, just Starbucks Sumatra run through a Cuisanart drip maker. The wifely-unit and I drink far too much coffee to ever be able to afford a K-Cup setup.

Grandpa used to tell me, "You don't actually buy coffee. You only rent it."

Today at work I am drinking a 2016 Holiday Edition coffee.

Affordable priced at $1USD.

Willing to trade up, across, or down.

I will drink anything that helps me push through work, school, or whatever task. If it's quality, even better but most everything does the job.
