I can not keep from acquire this Seamaster 168.024 locally via a trade with seller here in Saigon.
Case is a bit polished, probably wrong crown, but I think dial is genuine, as is buckle. Please share your thoughts (some photos are from seller)
Thank you.

Can you produce a sharper picture for us to compare fonts? From the ones you posted I tend to say (pretty good) redial, too. Not sure about the buckle, either.

Thank you both for quick replies.
I am at work so tomorrow in day-off time I will take macro photos.
Seasons greetings

Just goes to show picture quality is important. I’d say original based on the new pics.

I'm not an expert; just asking for my own knowledge. Why does the minute mark at 28 have a little serif, such that it looks like a "1", and the minute mark at 29 missing entirely?

Edit -- Nupero's zoom in makes it clear.

What's going on here? One minute marker is trying to escape!

Yup, that’s the only thing that made me wonder, too. Possibly a cleaning attempt that went awry and moved the print of the marker? Regarding the font I’m again with @Davidt - the serifs, which I couldn’t make out in the first pictures are as they should be and the distance between the O and the M in Omega looks good - I was sceptical in the initial pics as they seemed too close together when I compared them to my example.

It’s still a very polished case, plus the issue with the minute tick. The price should reflect that.

Edited to add:
Another macro DSCF3935 while the former one. was DSCF3933 (merely fraction of second since photo was taking in continous shooting mode)
Based on this new marco shot I tend to agree with Nupero's observation : the escaping minute marker 😉 .

Thank all for your input.
The thing sitting next to 28th minute marker paint was there before I took the watch (in nake eye I initially took it for dirty or something like it on dial).
Can not take the caliber out of case (although I was able to remove stem and crown but it was so scary to me... I gave up the attempt of taking caliber out of its case... 😲 ).

I owe you all another macro shot when my watchmaker revise the movement.
Cheers.

The watch looks reasonable (polished like you said), and the dial looks original to me. The buckle looks like it did not originally come with the watch, even though it is an Omega buckle. Its a very cool watch and deserves to be worn with pride, and you don't need to sweat over every tiny ding and scratch.

Seller was asking 14 million Vietnam Dongs (~612 $US) but since I traded in so it is difficult to tell what was the final cost for this.

Is it really? Genuine question as I’m not that deep into the differences, but the Omega logo looks just a bit too soft for me, the logo above the SWISS is not central, the gap before “INOX” isn’t that tiny bit larger than between the other letters, as far as I can tell from the pictures.

I might well be wrong, though - happy to be corrected. 😀

I am no buckle expert either. I think you are expecting more quality control from buckle manufacturers, and I am expecting less (my browsing has led me to believe that there is a lot of variation). Its probably best, for those that care, to scroll through the buckle threads so that this can be sorted.

@nkhandekar Thank you for your input.
What I am sure is that buckle is a "together one" since one of its part is gold plated (the metal bite that goes through the leather band - sorry I don't have the name - is gold plated)
Otherwise logo of buckle manufacturer is quite legit as per @omegastar excellent thread in this matter.
Seasons Greetings to All 😀

Dial looks ok to me. It’s quite old so I wildly expect a polish at the very least.

I just looked at a buckle that came with a 1969-ish watch I have and its very similar to your buckle, same logo, same makers marks. So the buckle could well be contemporary to your watch.

Pin, tang, prong...it has some fun sounding names, but it is not an essential contributor to the value of the watch.
