Ignoring any discussion on the topic itself...

Looking at this from the Omega side... If you were CEO.

Would you invest in trying to develop an agreement with this company, and keep an Omega speedmaster on the wrist of anything/anyone going to the moon... or has the moon given everything it can to Omega.

If more and more people are allowed to walk on the moon (as one would imagine that this is the first step in an ultimate plan to let billionaires take a 'Vacation' to the moon) how much would the loss of the "first and only" claim affect Omega?

Of course, this is all just a hypothetical issue of discussion, not saying what the realities are... just wondering what the rest of you guys think... "If you were Raynald/Hayek"... do you pick up the phone to the CEO of Moon Express? or not even bother...?

1.) Unload some unsold xSOTM, give one to each moon visitor.

2.) Make an LE commemorating the fact that the people that went to the moon for vacation each got one.

3.) Profit

Build an OB on the moon and sell LE "moonwatch" that can only be purchased on the moon.

In 50 years people will look back and giggle about the way the Moon was thought to be out of reach for normal people. We'll probably have colonized it by then. The Speedmaster might lose it's panache, becoming what a Casio is today. 😜 ::stirthepot::

I dunno, I'm still amazed people crossed the Atlantic, or any other ocean or sea for that matter, in wooden boats.

Next stop Mars. I don't think Omega, and the Speedmaster, has anything to gain by going back to the Moon (Although I personally am all for new manned moon missions). Also, I don't find Moon Express to be all that credible. If you are going to pick a potential future winning commercial space effort, I'd go with Elon Musk all day every day.

They'll always be the first watch on the moon (and currently aren't the only watch on the moon anyway). So, no harm done. History is what history is.

What I always sort of hoped Omega would do is a Star Trek tie-in, like have a member of the crew wearing his great great grandfather's "vintage" Starfleet issue Speedmaster Pro from the 2100s or something like that. Or have Kirk wearing a 200th anniversary LE "Zefram Cochrane First Warp Flight" Speedmaster Pro, as we all know as long as Omega exists so will the manual wind Moonwatch, its almost certainly going to be around 100+ years from now as long as the company stays in good shape.

No one knows who the fourth or fifth guy on the Moon or Everest was unless it was your uncle.

Let Rolex $$$$$ for their uncle went to the moon watch

Call it Moon Base Alpha...just make sure that nuclear waste dump on the other side doesn't blow up throwing the moon out of orbit...

I can see it now round the case back...

'Omega Speedmaster - The first and only watch worn privately on the moon'

THEN

A string of LE's every 5 year anniversary.

Pretty cool thing if it happens though!

Wait, didn't that happen back in 1999?
