Just got it back from Montblanc Hamburg, it was in such bad shape that they replaced everything on it, which isn't too bad for $140. Took some pics of the Cartier and Pelikan as well while I had the camera out.
Nice photos! Anybody else collect fountain pens? I've to one, a Waterman. Can you recommend any websites to read up on pens?
Those micro shots are fantastic! It's really hard to get the lighting just right on those highly polished surfaces to avoid glare. Great composition as well.
Biggest annoyance is its all brand new, literally they threw the old pen away and made a new one then gave it the old pen's serial number at Montblanc Hamburg but I can already see the fine micro-scratches and dust and hair. Can click on any to bring up the 2560x resolution version but they're all sized down from like 26MP, in full detail you really see how much trouble Montblanc go to. Writes beautifully too, its about a medium while most of my others are fine but its beautifully weighted. The most interesting thing is each of the rings is a separate piece, a black lacquer ring connected to a silver ring and they move independently, so when you unscrew the piston filler cap you have to grab hard to get the silver/black rings to stop spinning on their own.
Yes, years ago my logic was if I wrote slower, people could read it. Started buying fountain pens, too many. In the 1970's bought Mont Bancs from Fahrneys in Maryland. About 1990, saw the Waterman Le Mans Opera at Fahrneys and have never touched any of the others since. Within the past 6 months have sold off all the Mont Blancs, and plan on divesting the others from the remaining collection. The one Waterman still is the favorite, but honestly my penmanship never improved, to the point I can no longer read it. www.FahrneysPens.com
