Model/ Ref# ? Swiss Only Dial? Value?

Hello,

I found this Watch the other day in a cabinet and wanted to get some more information about it. I noticed it has “SWISS” only on the dial and that the bezel is missing (I believe).

I also noticed that the screw back case only says “14K Gold Filled” and it does not have the Seamaster logo on the back of it…. Or maybe at some point the engraving on it was polished off?

Maybe Ref. 14701?

Please provide me with as many details as possible as about this watch and what you think it’s worth?

Thank you in advance.

Info is inside case back and SN on movement. Looks like US Norman Morris watch if so movement will have OXG on it
Post photos from sides to check bezel question some references don’t have one

Thanks really great information and yes, it does have the OXG on the inside of the movement, what does that mean? And the case back says KL6303.

Also, what is this Watch worth?

Don’t think so
You don’t think it’s worth that? I think it would likely reach that in an open auction even with the dial damage. Maybe a bit more.

Or are you saying you think it’s worth considerably more??

250-300 £/€/$
Sounds about right, maybe 350£ if it’s running alright.

A gold plated watch with damaged dial, plate wear and a case with badly damaged lugs? I think you'd be lucky to get £300 personally. It looks like the tension ring or rehaut is missing too which is what the OP may have meant when they said they thought the bezel was gone. It isn't but there is more dial edge on show that I would have expected.

What is damaged on the Dial?, Please note the yellow spec at around 9 o’clock is not there when you look at it in person, I’m not sure why it’s showing that on the picture. Also is “Swiss” Only on the Dial more valuable than “Swiss Made” with the Omega watches? I know in other Watches like Cartier “Swiss” Only on the Dial means it’s the original dial and Swiss Made means it’s a factory replacement dial.

It's the opposite here really. Swiss indicates the case is not Swiss but US local production. It doesn't make it massively less desirable but it is a minor factor. I see what looks like dirt or oil or moisture ingress at the dial edge in a few places and on the indices also. As you say it may look better in the flesh but that's how it looks in the pic. That said, if there is a missing tension ring or rehaut as I suspect, a lot of that yellowing will be hidden as it's right at the dial edge. It sounds like you want this to be a piece of treasure. It really isn't I am afraid. At some point this was worn on one of those spring loaded expanding bracelets (like Speidel made) and it has done a nasty job on the lugs.

With Omega, simply SWISS (indicating a US cased watch) is actually of lesser value than Swiss Made (cased by Omega in Switzerland).

Seeing as you seem to think the valuations you’re getting here are wildly inaccurate, why not let us know what you think it’s worth, rather than just saying we’re wrong.

Thank you for the additional information I really appreciate it, and you said that this isn’t missing a bezel or some piece on the outside of the glass/crystal? And if so, where would I be able to find one for this watch? Please advise and thank you!

It's an entry-level watch to begin with, and in poor condition. If you find someone who wants it, take what they are willing to pay.

You were told that it is missing the tension ring. But I would not suggest investing a penny into this watch. If you spend $50 on a new crystal, that's $50 you will never get back.

Totally agree
So you “do think so” now, or do you still disagree around the value? What do you think it’s worth?

Uncased Movements shipped to US to avoid import tax on precious metals were typically stamped OXG. Not sure what those initials represent exactly
KL6303 is the US case ref number.
