From a design standpoint, is the 1999 Rolex Submariner the cleanest Sub Rolex ever released? Let’s see: no date? Check. Two liner? Check. Swiss only dial? CHECK. I believe it is! And this is an absolutely incredible example with a beautiful, seemingly unpolished case down to the original case back sticker!

REF: 14060

SERIAL: A729XXX

DATE: 1999

DIAL: Hard to add much that hasn’t been written about and drooled over for decades! It’s a classic for a reason… well, many reasons! From the 2 line black dial to that Mercedes hour hand… and here seen with the simple “Swiss” marking under 6. All original, and the luminova still lights up beautifully. Incredibly clean including the bezel - love it!

CASE: Crisp and clean 40mm case with great original lines, nice brushing on the thick lugs, with those beautiful chamfers and the original case back sticker! Light wear mostly seen on the polished sides and a bit on the lugs, but all in one of the cleanest examples I’ve seen.

CRYSTAL: Sapphire crystal in great shape showing off that stunning dial perfectly.

MOVEMENT: Under the hood is equally iconic Rolex cal 3000 automatic movement. Service history is unknown, but I believe it was resent based on the incredible timegrapher numbers, ZERO seconds per day with an amplitude of 314!

BRACELET: Comes on it’s original date code stamped 93150 Rolex oyster bracelet with original 501B endlinks. 12 links total, so will fit up to just shy of 8 inches. Also has light wear throughout, but also super clean!

ACCESSORIES: Watch only.

PRICE: $7895 which will include OVERNIGHT fully insured shipping via FedEx anywhere in the US. Face-to-face deal in the Los Angeles area is always possible, with a small discount offered.

No trades, thanks.

Payment via Venmo friends and family, Zelle, or Wire.

No returns unless misrepresented and it absolutely will not be, I am a passionate collector first and foremost and I go out of the way to treat buyers the way I want to be treated and I’m the buyer. Lots of great feedback to show that!

Thanks for checking out this FIRE Rolex Submariner (is that what the kids say?) and, as always, thanks to OF for the space!

What's the story behind the Swiss only dial ? Service dial ?

A-serial #'s are considered to be in the accepted range for Swiss-only dials.

Ahh..., I learn every day. So only 1999 had that for one year before Super Luminova took over.

You’ll find Swiss Only dials mid 1998 through late 1999, when Rolex moved away from tritium (Swiss T < 25 marked) and went to luminova (Swiss Made marked) the Swiss only marking was transitional, though they are also luminova. It’s a fun quirk in the Rolex history, and something they only did for about 18 months which is cool. Personally I love them because the design is just so clean and it’s just one of those fun, nerdy watch details!

And it’s “Swiss” Luminova dial with holes case which further narrows the field during the transitional period. Lots of subtle changes during this period.
