I know that it isn't possible to get Extracts for some vintage Omegas as a portion of records were destroyed (water? fire?) in the past. I was wondering if anyone has a sense for the models/serial numbers/years of those records, and if the destroyed records were all consecutive, or from different periods.

Or if people don't know the period(s), if you tried to get an Extract but Omega wasn't able to provide one, if you are willing to share the models/SNs for those watches (or of course just a portion of the SN if preferred).

    Thanks -

The missing portions are not consecutive in most cases and they are not related to special models.

This is because there are not hundreds of the same model in consecutive order on the microfilm, the order is related to the movement serial numbers and hence it is a mix of different models on the microfilm.

You can have a batch of lets say 80 Constellations followed by 60 ladies´ models and then 30 desk clocks, ...

Sometimes it is missing a larger part of the microfilm and this will affect a considerable gap in records of course.

There is also the problem that some parts of the microfilms are very foggy, so the information is not readable any more.

Hope this helps to understand the problem.

    Thanks mac_omega.
You mention that the order on the microfilm is related to the movement serial numbers - that sounds like the missing information would all be consecutive. Say if a single roll of microfilm was set on fire, it would be a consecutive series of movements, correct?

There is rarly missing a whole roll of microfilm - mostly there are some missing parts of film (maybe cut out because they were damaged?) and so batches of numbers are missing.

The same is for the unreadable foggy microfilms - mostly only a part of the film can´t be read
