Military Seamaster

Hi All,

My 94 year old Dad gave me this Seamaster. He is a WW2 Vet and had his military number engraved on the back.

Can anyone tell me about this watch? What year? Did Omega give it to all WW2 troops? Did he engrave his serial number on the back or did Omega do that?

Any idea of the value?

Thanks! Paul

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. You will need much better photos to get any meaningful responses from us. In focus photos of the dial and caseback would be a good start

Not a military model. Much later after WW2. Omega did not do any engraving you might see. It is a normal Seamaster. Like 100.000 others of that version..... All Infos, you want, are inside the case back. So..... Watchmaker is your next stop. Open and take pics.

Forgot all ideas that this is a wartime watch, no Omega had Seamaster on the dial until 1948. What you show there looks like a 1960s model (though I suppose it could be earlier if the dial has been changed). If it has caseback markings, show those and we can tell you more. It is quite possible it was bought at a NAAFI or px if you father still served after the war but models like that weren’t issued by any army I know of.

The previous advice is pretty well spot on Paul. It's quite possible your Dad bought the watch and engraved his serial number as an aid to give it an identity in case of loss or theft.

I did the same thing when I bought my Omega Seamaster 600 in 1964, I took it straight to the next counter and had the jeweller engrave my service number, it was R6371*, something you never forget.

Here's another thread to help with identifying you watch.
