What a motley looking crew. Interesting watch pics tho, but can't you guys afford anything new? What's with all the old stuff?
You were there in spirit, Fred. You gave that gold Seamaster on BOR away- you must have had a moment of weakness when you listed that thing for sale.

The really big ticket stuff didn't make it on the photo table.

Yes I noticed the group shot lacked JW's Invicta collection along with gbesq's spray of Michael Kors. 👍

It was really a great afternoon and certain to become an annual event. And of course I bought another watch (insert eye roll HERE). Just want to thank everyone for coming and everyone who contributed to organizing the event. My new Omega ornament will be the first one on my tree. And here’s a group photo of some of our Mid-Atlantic OF members who made this such a fun day!
I think you should all be waring balaclavas.

Don’t be hatin’- you know those Invicta’s are dead sexy!

You mean one like this?

If you note in the group shot there is a red light room off to the right…that’s where you get one of these for the champagne platinum OF lounge.

I officially no longer wish to make it to the champagne platinum lounge. That dream didn't last long.

Numbers on the bracelet?

I now realize your wife brought you so she could scope out her next purchase. She has mighty fine taste in Bulova’s.

And not or. Fast typing and no proofreading. Yeah, she was scoping out a few watches and admitted to me she wants a Speedy ... For us to share. Yeah right. So now I have a new date to hunt down: 1994, the year we originally met. Damn next year is gonna be expensive.

Looks like the thread is taking a turn for the worse… so, before it goes farther, I would like to join the other participants who expressed their gratitude to the organizers of this amazing event!!! And thank you a million to @JwRosenthal and his wife and @gbesq for their work and the swag bag!! Class act.

I wasn’t sure what to expect after a 3-hour drive in heavy rain… but right off the gate, I met @vintage hab who greeted me in my native language… and things only got better from there!!
Great place, delicious food and drinks.
Wide variety of watches spanning the entire gamut from Vintage to Modern… with VERY rare ones.

I mean, I had never seen or handled a Ranchero 30mm. Check.
A rare 2914 with special dial configuration? Check
A black waffle-dialed jumbo Seamaster?! Check
Gallet Multichron? Check again.
An entire collection of IWC Ingénieurs from the 60’s to today!? Check again.
One of the 99 special series Grey Side of the Moon Speedies issued for the PCA!? Yup.
A Seamaster Jacques Mayol “Apnea”… indeed!
And much more than I can even list here.

But more than the gear itself, it was really the people who made this a memorable event for me. Everybody was so welcoming, kind, generous, humble, knowledgeable and passionate about this hobby. What an amazing group of individuals… no wonder why the OF is a place where we spend so much time.

Definitely looking forward to the next opportunity to meet members IRL. May be in the NYC area??

Edit: had to include @Dsloan ‘s Apnea as well!!

Absolutely, as was Mike’s Railmaster. But MTrois speedy collection was outrageous!

That speedy collection though! As a soon as you thought he was done, he'd just produce yet another box full of speedies.

She deserves her own Speedmaster- you can wear the G-shock.

My apologies for going down the leather road- I will refrain.
It was totally amazing to put names and faces to the handles and Avatars with which I have spent my free time for so long. Even though we were strangers, I felt like I’ve known all of you for decades.

Thank you for the kind words guys… but honestly, every single collection I saw today was IMPRESSIVE: the level of quality, the rarity, the variety in tastes, the thematic of the collections on dive watches, on chronographs, on magnetism-resistant watches, on pie pans, on connies, on Seamaster, etc etc … and, above all, the personal stories behind the watches you brought today!

Last but not least, you all made me feel a bit better that I am not the only WIS rattling off reference numbers… and in fact, you guys are much worse (and more experienced)!! 😁

PS: what I was really trying to say was that today was not a pi$$ing contest, but a sincere exchange amongst enthusiasts, simply sharing the same passion for a common hobby. Great times!!

Here’s a question to all who attended, as I’ve always been curious about this: after finally meeting in person someone who you may have over time communicated with mostly on the Forum, did you find their in-the-flash persona matched what you gleaned about them from how they present themselves in writing, or were any surprises? I often hear that people can be quite effusive behind the keyboard, and a bit less on a face to face basis…and also the reverse.

That said: if JW turns out to be different, well, I’m out…

JW in person is very much like his online persona - and that’s a good thing.

So you're into leather and bondage as well? 😉 (Sorry I couldn't resist)
