Mesh band for 145.007

Hi there-

I have a 145.007 (as pictured in my avatar). I have, since that photo, swapped out the leather band for an Omega NATO all-black band. Whereas the quality of the Omega NATO is really great, it's bulky as hell on my wrists. Two layers of strap beneath the watch, in between watch and skin, and an extensive loop system on the outside of the strap for the excess. I realize part of this is just the design of the NATO (may not be Omega's fault).

I'm now considering the "shark" or metal "mesh" band as found on some of these larger casing Chronographs. I'm also considering a less involved NATO. This watch is an interesting one because it is, by nature, very big on its own, but boasts an almost casual look (vs. a vintage Breitling, for instance).

I'm not a business professional, I work in the arts, so I'm usually never wearing dressy clothing. Regardless of wearing a suit or a windbreaker and tee-shirt, with this band, this watch looks and feels too large. I'm definitely considering getting a different band. That said I have two questions:

1. Which metal mesh band will fit this watch (38mm)? And where can one procure it?

2. Which NATO, of the best possible quality, is the least bulky?

Thank you, experts!

Hello
I have a 1161 bracelet for mine but I think it came on a 1171 bracelet too. To be honest I prefer it on the leather strap. I have, what I believe is the original strap that is blue and a spare one that is red. They both come on a no.27 clasp and the lugs are 22mm.
This is the blue one. It looks less beat up in the flesh. I also had the watch serviced and a new crystal put on it.

And here is the spare red strap that I bought earlier this year. (Sellers photo)

Correct bracelets are 1117/549 and 1170/625, for sure not a 1171 that is for 20mm lugs and never heard about 1161..

To answer the OP:
Omega mesh for 22mm lugs is 1247/237, you can get it on ebay for big$$$ or ask your Omega retailer if they still have it (can be cheaper than ebay)

Stupid auto correct, I meant to write 1170. Couldn't remember the end links though. I actully got a 1162 bracelet with 172 endlinks because it was the only bracelet that I found pictures of, on the watch, with a bracelet refrence number. The end links are straight so don't sit snug into the lugs.

1162 is not original on 145007/8, replacement only.

Yeah I knew when i bought it, that it was not original to the refrence, but finding a 1170 bracelet is/was quite difficult. I bought the 1162 because it fitted the watch dimensions. 're reading my original post it reads like I am suggesting that the 1162 was also original to the watch, this was not the intention.

1159 Bracelet with 549 endlinks also 😀
no, it's not.
1159 was produced with fixed straight endlinks: 155 (22mm) and 154 (20mm).
1117 has 549 endlinks.
Any 1159 with 549 endlinks is probably a 1117 with a swapped unoriginal 1159 clasp

Love that one on the left. What model # is that? Beautiful.

The stitched leather is actually what's in my avatar photo. It wasn't bulky at all but sure did stick to my wrist throuought the warmer months (which, here in the North East, is about 80% of the year now...)

What about a leather strap with matching stiches?

Just took a peek on eBay. Seems, like all other watch accessories, you can pay insane amounts ($500+) for an OG shark band or you can do the cheap-o route of $45-ish from the aftermarket guys.

In a perfect world where money is no object the real deal is preferred, but that's such a steep price difference.
And of course you worry about your watch falling off a faulty band.

Anyone know of a shark mesh band somewhere in the middle that is of solid quality?

I think my thing with the metal mesh is that it'll breathe, whilst not being bulky on the wrist and will go from casual to dressy easier than a NATO.

Much appreciate any links/info on the shark mesh or other metal bands that won't totally break the bank.

I have a couple of watches on mesh, both from Geckota in the UK. Quality is excellent delivery fast and not expensive for the quality. Easy to adust by removing links .Both of mine are deployant, one is polished the other matt. I prefer the polished.

My 145.008 came to me on an 1184/625. Would be really interested to see one on a shark mesh. That said, looks good in blue shark skin too IMHO.

I had mine on bracelet and took it off - I also wanted a more informal dressed down look. In the end I put it onto a brown, slightly worn leather band with contrast stitch:

At least here in the UK, brown leather is still considered informal (at least where I work..)

Ended up grabbing this. I wasn't so much in love with the aesthetic aspect of the metal mesh, but the sleekness and breathability.. though I do like the Miami coke dealer chicness to it 😀 This has that in spades and is made by Omega, though the guy who helped me out today told me to make sure it is authentic. Thoughts? Photos:

These are very nicely made and look lovely. One big drawback is when putting the watch on be careful to do it in a carpeted room or over a bed. It is very easy to drop the watch whilst trying to fasten the seat belt style clasp. An acquired skill, just when you think you have mastered it is when you drop your pride and joy. Beware.
