    Hi,
I am new to this forum.
I was browsing on some sales forum and random serial # was mentioned a few times.
    What does that mean ?

    Thanks!

Its on newer Rolex watches. They changed away from a sequential system a few years back that started with a letter to denote the production year. The new random serials makes them harder to counterfeit.

Usually that is referring to modern Rolex since about 2011 or so (+/- 2 years)? It means that the serial numbers are a random combination of letters and numbers- as opposed to sequential numbers that increase with time or start with a certain letter to denote the year of production.

Non sequential. Basically, some manufacturers used to use sequential serial numbers that corresponded with dates of manufacture. See: Rolex, and Panerai. But later they switched to serial numbers that didn't correspond.
    Good luck with the search!
