I got a email notification of this. Way out of my price range, but had fun reading some of the comments. I think this sums up the general reaction 😲

Only $106,000! 😲

A Lange 1 for $20500 is definitely less than the grey market price on jomashop by $6K, so could be considered a relative bargain. Of course so is a Ferrari 458 for $100K - still doesn't mean I can buy it.

what I really don't get is why a Lange 31 is $20K more than a Datograph Perpetual. There has to be something going on there that I'm just not getting, but it seems ridiculous.

Can't find the Lange massdrop anymore. I'm sure it ended but usually they stay up for awhile after. At least the discussion section does. Anyone know what happened to it?

For anyone looking for an SKX, they’re up on MassDrop now for $169.99 to $199.99 depending on which version you want.

best price I've seen by about 10 bucks... FYI a Seiko shop I was just in, (interesting story) told me the SKX was going the way of the Alpinist... Unconfirmed but if you are on the fence now is the time. Also note the Pepsi on Rubber is a J... Not the easiest to source in the US, not that I think the K and J have any difference, but some people care about that.

Ha, I'll believe it when I see it. I've been hearing that ever since I bought mine in 2016, it was actually one of the main reasons I ended up buying it over anything else. Smart people those Seiko salespeople, spreading rumors like that. 😉

Personally I’d not worry... but as I sent you in the private message... I currently have in my possession an SKX that has a bad hairspring after 5 years of daily wear.... now just over 50 bucks to fix.

I really wish they would update these with the newer hacking/handwinding movements, but otherwise leave them exactly the same. Like the updated Monster. I really don't understand why they haven't.

That would have been good. Do the new dive watches have that?

Yes, on the skx and lower 5’s have the 7s26 non hacking movement. It’s unclear if the SKX is going away or just certain varients if at all. I found an oblique reference on another forum and had a Seiko shop say they can’t order them currently. The Alpinst is clearly going away in it current version and no replacement or update has been announced.

It might be worth calling Long Island Watches and seeing if they have more info.

Cool, thanks for sharing. It is not really a deal killer, but it would be nice.

Honestly it doesn’t bug me. You can “hack” most with a little back pressure when setting it. Lack of hand winding is not an issue.

Ok, thanks. Good to know lack of handwinding is not an issue. I was curious what people think of that.

Naw give it the Seiko shake and your ready to go. They tend to wind fairly quickly on wrist.
