    Hi
    My movement is stamped 1291462 which is circa 1898.
    Above serial No is a Swiss cross and 8750
    What does this denote?
    Thanks

    Pictures man we need pictures. in the case of this watch it refers to a patent. P1252171.JPG
    On the other hand it could be for manufacturer and calibre.

    I didn't see the point in pictures when I thought someone would know straight away. Pictures now added

    actually I think the Cal was identified by Canuck as being a "19". Sorry if I have wasted any ones time! That said the movement diameter (dial-face) = 45.84mm so perhaps it's not!
    Dm = 43.86mm
