I didn't say your Subaru wasn't fast either. 😉 I think tracking the car could void your warranty (if they find out). I could be making that up. I've been holding off on re-flashing my ECU because it voids the warranty. Subaru cracked down on this because they got tired of warranty claims from all the WRX/STI guys modding and flashing tunes and breaking stuff. And they can tell if you flash the ECU and then flash it back to stock before bringing it in.

Of course I'm reading that some guys who modded got warranty repairs approved and some guys who were totally stock but showed "excessive boost" were denied. The mothership makes things up as they go along there too it seems.

From what I remember they started cracking down on the re-flash situation in the 2018 timeframe. It really depends on the dealership and what mods are done and the circumstances. I can't see how they could possibly deny a warranty claim on a stock car (hello lawsuit). My car stock hits 20psi which is pretty high. The Cobb off-the-shelf stage 1 tune for the 2.0 DIT actually runs lower boost and gets more consistent results. If you dyno the stock tune the numbers are all over the place. If you dyno the Cobb tune it will hit the same numbers every time. I'm thankful Subaru is still making fun, affordable, manual transmission cars in the US. Most manufactures have given up on it. Choices are very limited for people who prefer a stick shift.

I didn't say my Subaru wasn't fast. I DID buy the Onyx XT after all. My wife trounced some Lambo the other day -- sure it's all about the driver and I'll give the guy some leeway because it was a little wet. But come on. Still. WOOSH. I'd love to get it on the track and see what it can do in stock form because once that warranty is expired ... ooo la la.

We can link up on team Subaru and take this whole thing off-road. 😁

Umm, not me. Especially not for the new 300m which retails for $6,700 and which I've heard can be found new selling for $5,200 and even less if I go used, I heard. Well, that's what I heard. From someone else. Who was probably shopping online. Awhile ago.
