I would like to ask and get enlighten...Most of my watches are manual winding and I really make it a habbit to wind them every morning or every night in order to keep them running....
    Is this a good practice?
Would it also be ok not to wind the watch, leave it not running and just wind it if you wanted to use it?

There is no harm done not winding the watch each day. How many do you have?

I wind the watch the day I put it on, or very rarely the night before...Most of my manual chronos are happy with a morning wind-up.
    Here's a couple of examples:

I will have a seamaster cal 560 soon. Is it a auto self winding or manual winding watch ?? Do I have to wind it everyday?

It is an automatic. If you wear it every day (which you should not do until the watch has been inspected or serviced by a watchmaker), it should not need to be wound other than start-up.

    More information here.

    Happy reading,

    Welcome,

From Dr. Roland Ranfft's movement archive, you can see the 560 is an automatic wind. Do you have to wind it every day? Not if is in good condition, and you WEAR it every day! It will wind itself. If you aren't going to wear it, whether you wind it manually every day, or not, is entirely up to you. It can be wound manually, just like a stem winder. If you know nothing about its service history, you might be smart to have it checked out.

That link refers to cal 562, not cal 560!

I live in Canada, so I am not familiar with service shops in your area. But guaranteed, they can be found. Someone will likely happen along with recommendations.

there are indeed some watches that are both auto and manual winding like my omega 354 and seiko bullheads...
i like winding my watches everyday it is like having a personal connection with them...this is good since i only have few watches and it would not take so much of my time...But what if you have like 30 manual watches lol...

Probably 90% of automatic watches may also be wound manually.

So it was difficult to understand your question.

Many older Seikos can't be wound manually. Neither can the LeCoultre Futurematic.

I'm sure there are many others.

I think it was a Japanese Miyota from the late '70s to early '80s that can be found in many of the "Japan" Autos out there. Waltham, Helbros, Wittnauer, etc. Easy to tell. You wind the crown and you don't feel the ratchet ;)
