Not sure how easy to see this is. Effectively the 60 at the top is not straight with the bracelet and equally the 120 at the bottom.

Truth be told I’m not really worried as it’s very slight.

That would really annoy me. I would look at that constantly.

I’ll be honest I did for the first few hours but now I don’t notice it. We are talking fractions of a millimetre.

It’s running quite fast though, so if it doesn’t get any better I’ll have it into the regent street boutique for both things.

It’s a great watch though.

I need to buy some Manking boxes now.

That will be worth thousands in a few years...

FS: Rare "Manking" Apollo 17 set. $1,000,000,000

I can think of a similar word that begins with a ‘w’ and rhymes with ‘manking’ that would have made this worth MUCH more (IMHO priceless) 😗

Can't tell from the angle of the picture but is the bezel misaligned or is it completely misprinted? If the former, it takes only a few minutes for a watchmaker to pop out the bezel, align, and push that sucker back in with a bezel press

I can’t tell either. I’ll pop it into the boutique where they have a watchmaker and find out. It’s one of those things that happens I guess. Either way it will get sorted and it’s not enough to get the watch off my wrist!

Fortunately they only made 1972 + 272 mistakes. 😉 Regardless, its a nice easter egg and I really don't mind the mistake on box. Surprised it took so long for someone to notice it!

OUCH!!

Thats a costly error to make! Im guessing that all the boxes will be 'manking' due to the manufacturing process no?

Assuming that the manufacturing of the boxes themselves were outsourced, I would think that the mistake may have come from Omega itself. 'F7' is not as reliable as an actual human proofreader! 😜

This "Manking" sounds like his powers are far reaching and cannot be stopped.

All hail, Manking and all of his glory!

Just checked with my Omega Boutique in Topanga Canyon, California. They have not received word on when the replacement will be sent out.

Is there any update on "Mankingate" from Omega
I don't think they're too worried about it. They only sold like 5 of those watches because it was overshadowed by the 60th Anniversary LE

Ok just got word from OB they said they be happy to get me the new box but I have to give them the old box back. I have two of these Omega Speedmaster Apollo XVII 45 Anniversary, stainless and gold, so I have two boxes. What would you do? I am leaning to keeping both boxes. my yellow gold Apollo XVII is under 10 of 272 so I do not think that many boxes where shipped out. Will ManKing be worth More than ManKind?

Who knows? But i would probably get the "mankind" for the stainless one and keep the "manking" for the yellow gold.

No idea about potential values down the road due to the misprint. However, I would personally keep the misprinted boxes for personal chuckles.

Saw one of the boxes for the gold version in the OB the other day with the manking wording. Hilarious though.
