I suspect it comes to us all... but today, I fell in lust with an Aqua Terra. The 15,000 gauss Reference 231.10.42.21.01.002 aka "Bumblebee" being my particular poison.... now much want, but at £4,400 it's going to have to wait. Anyone here lucky enough to have this particular AT in their collection? Thoughts? Wrist shots? Enablement?!
I saw one in the wild a few weeks back looks great. Modern but not too modern, looks at the current Tags... I was converted.
Had one a while ago and really liked it, just had to swap out due to others clogging up the wrist time. Really versatile everyday wearer and the pops of yellow helped with strap pairing, as some extra saturation makes up for the mostly conservative case and dial design. Love the 8508 movement - by the time I parted with it was down to less than a second a day fast.
Easily my pick of the Aqua Terra line up................particularly on leather..........................
I do like the club campus... but there's a big difference in build, movement, finish... which you would expect at 4 times the price.
You can't beat a bit of 15,000 gauss. All very comforting whilst tapping away on my i-pad with the magnetic cover.
For me it was a few years back. I actually call it my most favorite watch that I never wear. I wear mine a few times a year. Its hard being a AT in a large group of Speedmasters. And honestly, if I was not a watch guy and needed just one watch, it would be this one. I am going to wear it today.
Yeah, I'll echo what others have said. It's not my most-worn watch, but it's easily my most reliable (less than +1s/WEEK!), the easiest to wear, and just is an all around example of how amazing modern Omegas are. The 15k gauss is going to be really collectible someday, as it is obviously now the start of something big for Omega.
I had finally gotten to see one in the metal and try on a couple months back. A really good looking piece and quite comfortable. The little details are great and I find the bumble bee second hand to be a blast. Definitely a fine watch to fall in lust with @tyrantlizardrex
I brought one of these, two years old, box and papers and faultless. All for £2850 from Banks Lyon in Lancashire
Budget restraints have put this on hold for me... but hearing stories like yours of paying old price (with a little discount thrown in), makes me certain I won't be paying Omega full £4000+, should I find the cash.
I have seen these on Watchfinder for £3800. Banks Lyon price was a right bargain that I couldn't resist.
I think the horizontal lines on the brand new Aqua Terra dials are just beautiful. For whatever reason, the verticle lines on the past gen Aqua Terra never sat right with me. I guess that is why there is apples and oranges. Either way, the yellow and black bumble bee seconds hand is really cool. Go for it if you like it...
A bit rushed this week Chris to take a new photo, but I will try over the weekend (kids and wife schedule permitting) to capture the glorious sunburst effect you get on this dial when you have direct sunlight on it...green tones come out and blend beautifully with the bumble bee, funky seconds hand. This was my first Omega...I used it on the metal bracelet for two years, but felt it had too much bling...here is it in an old "zoomed in family" shot circa mid 2015 (3rd from the right - bleeding obvious I know, but I have no idea as to how many pints you might have consumed before reading this post) changed it to barenia OEM Omega leather...to get this... posted a few times before, must take some new photos I really think the barenia just took the watch to a new level...it became probably one of my fave sunny day, good mood watches in my collection. The colour stauration is a bit strong here...trying to get the maximum sunshine happy vibe on the bumblebee. BW below for a cooler look...
