Lume query

A personal bug of mine on lume, is the 2 colour option Omega & many brands now offer (usually green on the minute hand and 12 pip, blue everywhere else). Don't get me started on a fully lumed bezel either. Yuk!

I know older generations had the 1 colour being used, has anyone ever had a modern 2 lume watch, bought back to have 1 colour lume? Is it possible?

What is this heresy you speak, man? 馃榾

I think I agree that a fully lumed bezel can be a bit much鈥攆or practical diving/timing purposes all you really need is the pip. But having the distinctive minute hand color seems like a plus to me. To each his own.

Mainly just replying for the sake of following, as I鈥檒l be curious to see if anyone has tried this. Short of doing a total custom dial swap, I imagine it鈥檇 be a very challenging and potentially expensive mod, given the way that lume and markers tend to be applied nowadays.

With coin and connections anything is possible.

Me, I like two different colors of lume as long as it's done tastefully -- and the full lume bezel on a diver is fire... again with taste though.

Each to their own, I know. Just visually I find it jarring. Obviously something in warranty is a no no-.Just didn't know if back being serviced etc you could ask Omega to apply the one colour.

Pretty sure Omega would not do it. You would have to go to an aftermarket relumer.

I agree with you about the different lume colors, though. I find it more of a gimmick than really useful. And the blue lume they use is less visible at the end of the night than the green - human eyes tend to be more sensitive to green.

Wish they had stuck with the older green all around. But when Rolex moved to their blue, so did Omega. But Omega鈥檚 version is not as bright, unfortunately.

I own two watches with different lume, the PO and Diver 300M. After a few minutes the colors all look the same to me.

Currently relying on wrist watch worn whilst asleep, due to newborn and crib in the room = lack of sidetable!

Realise how much I use lume on my watch!

Sorry, but I must respectfully disagree. I own the Seamaster 300 Heritage model and it has the best lume of any watch that I鈥檝e ever owned - including the bezel! It鈥檚 by far the most legible watch in the dark that I鈥檝e seen from any brand.

To a degree, with you here. I specifically chose the 1st generation heritage to avoid the lumed bezel. I respect anyone who likes this feature and recognize there's precedent, but to me it's just too busy (and this modern movement in lume strikes me as vastly similar to what went on with late Edo period katana, which is also a topic that has multiple points of view).

Also---- the MAJOR problem with modern lume is that the cones in the human eye are much better at detecting yellow-green light, and this move to shorter-duration blue is irritating and reduces functionality if the objective is longer lasting visibility.

I genuinely like both heritage models, but I would say- for how long does the illumination maintain visibility in the dark? Test it against a Seiko or a Citizen.

I absolutely love Omega so I don't mean this as a criticism, but their lume is pretty middle of the road.

If fully charged, I would say at least 6 hours based upon my ability to see the lumed parts of the watch after 6 hours of sleep in a dark bedroom and with my eyes fully adapted to the darkness. Obviously, it鈥檚 not as bright as it was at the beginning of my sleep cycle.
