Lume on my modern omegas leaves me underwhelmed....

If my main objective in a watch is lume, then I buy Seiko instead of Omega.

It looks like Seiko made a lume and remembered to add the watch.

I agree with OP
My gsotm has a lot of line spots on the dial but they are small surface areas. My Panerai blows it away in the dark but the paint density is much greater vs the small indices and hash marks of the Omega

Do you have a pic of its lume in the dark?

The 2254/2255 are better even than the very impressive lume on the Monster. I have put them side by side.

Would it (2254/2255) last all night long like the Monster?

Most of my watches, both Omega and Rolex, will be very faint after a little while in the dark. There is one exception in my collection. I will literally wake in the middle of the night and be able to easily read the time via its lume without any charging at any point.

Yes and be brighter after 6 or 7 hours.

Don't get me wrong, I know the Monster is good, much better than any Speedmaster* or skeleton hands Seamaster but the sword hands model is just better still in terms of persistence and legibility. I know of nothing better.

*I haven't tried a silver snoopy or CK 2998 as I don't like them when the lights are on.

I concur. My 2254 is still readable after 8 hours.

If you like lume, check out the newer Seiko Tuna dive watch, they are .... CRAZY. I have the SBBN031 and it bright!

Besides bright lume material, its just the matter of real estate. If it has more room for lume material, with bright lume material, it will be brighter.

Do you have a shot of it, by any chance? I would like to see it, please.

I don't have a comparison shot, but the lume is more easily charged and brighter than my Seiko 200m solar chrono and turtle

A bit late to this, but here's my 2255.80 after a 10 sec burst from my phone's flash 😎

The inability to read the darkened lume on my 16710 if waking in the small hours of the morning drove me mad; and the thought that I should accept as 'reasonable' the fact that my £5000 watch needs a UV flashlight shone on it to be seen at night, whilst my £40 Timex Ironman stood on its own two feet, struck (strikes) me as ludicrous.
I recently ditched the 16710 and bought a sword hand Seamaster (2231.50). The Seamaster's lume is incredible. With no 'charging' and nothing more than ambient house light prior to turning in, the watch is easily readable at any and all times of the night. Very pleased with it. Can't say how it compares to non-Sword hand Omegas, but it's certainly a step change to the woeful Rolex lume.
