After collecting Vintage Omegas and owning a Speedmaster I feel it’s now time to own a vintage Rolex. I’ve been studying and reading up on Rolexes and trying to decide between a submariner triple 0 or a Sea Dweller 16600
I found this 16600 and am interested in buying it for under $10000.
Please help me by offering opinions on this watch or steering me away from the Sea Dweller and onto the Sub. I do understand that the Sea Dweller wears larger than the sub
Thanks
agee

I like the 16600, although I prefer the fit of the Sub, personally. My wrist isn't very large. Can't say much from that photo except that it looks like it might be badly overpolished. The crown guards are most noticeable, but the lugs also look pretty thin. The lume looks nice, though.

Overall, I much prefer the 4-digit matte dial references without WGS markers. No comparison.

Seller states the the watch May have been polished in the past. States a recent service with no paperwork.
Just looked at a picture of the crown guards and yes the are heavily polished.
Thanks Dan

Compare this case. Look at the shape of the crown guards and the lugs.

Don't give up on the sea-dwellers. They are awesome watches and a ton cooler than a submariner

Still in the market for a vintage Submariner 1680 or would consider a Sea Dweller. Contacted Bob’s but most of their 1680’s in my price range are either polished and/ or have replaced original parts like crowns or bezel inserts. I like that their watches are all serviced before sale. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks OF

Tons of these watches for sale. If you’d prefer to buy retail instead of buying from a private seller you can check out places like HqMilton.com
