Hi guys- I’m trying to reassemble a 22297 3 and need to find a useable dial… mine is unfortunately shot. I’m not looking for some crazy perfect example, but I’ll look at anything at this point. I appreciate patina, so some character would be ok.

I’m also wondering if other guys have had issues with the stems pulling out… on 2 of my 3 Tri-compaxes the darn stems have come loose

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and I fully understand that the dials aren’t cheap… but I can’t really justify paying the $2000 (now $2500!) that the one guy on eBay has his 222100 dial for… and it’s not correct anyway.

 

2500$ for a 222100 dial, if correct and mint, is a cheap price, imho.

 

It’s definitely nice, but not the one I need… and yesterday it was listed at $2000

Lets see what you are dealing with…All of my Tri Compax are serviced by my watchmaker and loose stems have never been an issue. Balky moon disc correctors on the other hand….…

Yes it's not perfect, did you try to offer him 1500$ more or less?

Anyway these dials are hard to find, you know.

But to be honest, I did not buy it simply because it's not correct for your reference.

 

I’m very comfortable tinkering with “normal” watches, but the 281’s are a little imposing… I’ve tried to gently tighten the screw that holds the stem in place, but I’ve never gotten further than that. I’m capable of replacing a damaged or worn part, but I’m concerned about taking pieces off to access the keyless works…

 

If it was a useable dial for any of the 22297 ref’s I would’ve made a decent offer for it when he had it listed at $2,000…. But a 222100 dial might look odd on my 22297-3. At this point I’d even buy a really poor dial to have it refinished.
