Novice looking to purchase my first vintage Seamaster. I’ve come across this mechanical watch from 1961. Model 14384 SC- 61, caliber 610. I’ve been doing research on 1950-60s Seamasters but am having a difficult time finding much info and pictures about this model. Having a watch that is original as possible is important to me (original crown & hands, not redialed etc.). As well as being in good condition of course. What are your thoughts on this omega? Is that onyx instead of lume (which I’m fine with if it is)? Or lume that turned black? My only concern is to my eye it looks like the crosshair isn’t very well centered between the omega symbol. Is that something you commonly find with vintage Seamasters, or does it seem like a repainted dial/replaced symbol?

Would love your opinions how this watch and it’s condition. Thanks in advanced!

If originality is what you are looking for move along.

 

I'm glad you said that, because I don't see them either. This reference stands at the junction between the imposing "big lugs" 1950s Seamasters and the rather "De Ville" style of the 1960s (bit of a wrong turn IMVHO); but in this transitional guise, I think the Seamster is still strong but quite elegant. I reckon the less added "styling" the better.


610 movement is deffo a thing of beauty. So it depends what sort of vintage Seamaster you're after - it's a very wide range!

Maybe someone could help me. I have old vintage Omega Seamaster Cal.610 watch. Ref. number 14384 SC- 61. I'm planning to sell it, but now i notice that hour and minute hands don't have cutouts like many other watches with such ref. number. The watch was serviced last year and a watchmaker ensure me, that watch is all genuine. I was sure until know. Maybe someone have an idea about these hands? Thank you in advance.

yes I think your hands are correct non-lume style. you may want to also post this watch in a new thread to get more responses and attention to it.

 

Crosshair is still on my wish list also. This one is clearly not original. I rather have less quality and original than this one. However, price is also relevant. If it is against a low price you could also look around for an original dial. Just my 2 cents.
