Looking for input on vintage Omega Seamaster... redial?

Hello! I hope everyone is in good health during these crazy times. I’ve recently pulled out a vintage Omega Seamaster that I’ve had for quite some time. I picked up the watch relatively inexpensively at a yard sale. The movement looks legit, it’s got the original crown and what I believe is the original crystal (with omega insignia). The caseback also appears to be original. I’m a bit curious if the dial may have been redone at some point and I was hoping to get your feedback? I’ve included a number of pictures and appreciate any input you can offer. 2AAB0D3B-6F27-4937-946A-B74416AD898A.jpeg 460F9A97-B0B3-40EA-A0A8-86336327CF3D.jpeg B3C8A189-422B-4060-9A5C-AB17EF4BBA2C.jpeg C7194797-A236-46FA-8041-9382E63FE8A7.jpeg 1D09E9F0-28A3-4DE3-B339-31C73805EB8B.jpeg 869F0836-478B-4227-B1AD-AE7DF3E42F46.jpeg C02361F1-DEF6-4877-B810-8D1278A8AF1B.jpeg 2AAB0D3B-6F27-4937-946A-B74416AD898A.jpeg 460F9A97-B0B3-40EA-A0A8-86336327CF3D.jpeg B3C8A189-422B-4060-9A5C-AB17EF4BBA2C.jpeg C7194797-A236-46FA-8041-9382E63FE8A7.jpeg 1D09E9F0-28A3-4DE3-B339-31C73805EB8B.jpeg 869F0836-478B-4227-B1AD-AE7DF3E42F46.jpeg C02361F1-DEF6-4877-B810-8D1278A8AF1B.jpeg 23E4DE6D-783B-4E81-8FC4-B4AB32CCD36C.jpeg DF2A2D7D-5233-4BC6-870C-F305801ADF80.jpeg 0F7B3656-D538-4530-8E63-06A6ABC1048E.jpeg A67F50D3-6276-46FD-AC02-C4DB22706398.jpeg E1F6149B-21C2-4198-BC72-2C953A204AC7.jpeg 3125BAC6-81B9-43A3-88DC-F400A7797D0A.jpeg 48AA6570-86B9-41E8-8727-C0D428E75B81.jpeg Thank you!

That looks to be a redial. The font looks off, swiss is going through the marker, minutemarker at 9 is off, lume new applied (?). And I did not yet look at similar models. Did you? Enjoy the watch anyway!

    Refinished.

In addition to things already pointed out, the spacing between the applied Omega symbol and OMEGA AUTOMATIC is too wide.

It is a nice watch with a re-printed dial - unfortunately...

Thanks for the feedback... any idea how common this is? I ask because I’ve picked up 2 vintage Omegas locally (yard sale and local sale) and they’ve both turned out to be redone... I haven’t spent a ton on either, so I’m not so much worried about value but it seems strange that I’d go 2/2 (or maybe 0/2 is a better term) on local sales. I understand if I’m buying something from India on the auction site... but I didn’t realize they were this prevalent. Was it part of a regular service to touch up old dials? I’d much rather have a worn original than one that’s been redone.

Yes. It was done regularly as part of a service. They did'nt know then that a bunch of watchnerds now would appreciate original dials.

I did try to find similar models and couldn’t find one with the same text / spacing... part of the reason I came here for the expert opinion.. :) Thanks for the help, I guess I need to be more careful.

Refinishing dials was a very common practice in times past. I believe that embracing patina is a fairly recent phenomenon.

Beautiful watch, but agree that the dial is refinished.

I wouldn't fret, it's a very nice watch. If you are particularly bothered by it, one will probably turn up on on eBay etc. or, given that it's already redialed, find another refinisher.

Thanks, I just kick myself because I feel like I should know better / be able to spot it... just need to do more research on the front end I suppose. I do appreciate the input from the forum.

Don’t beat yourself up mate, by no means the worst redial out there and despite of it is still a nice looking watch...

I am surprised we haven’t had a visitation from Captain Redial. But then maybe he doesn’t bother calling out the actual redials, that would be far too useful.

I really like the 2846, it’s my fave fat lug and I have seen worse than the OP watch.

I don't know what's wrong. I am keeping to state what I see. And nobody has proven I was wrong. It's more the people think I should shut my mouth.

At least this dial hasn't been redone by Teerapat.

A bit of insight. A good first step.
