Looking for information on a 1940s 40mm Omega "Gold Star"

Hello,

I have recently bought a lot of several watches including this Omega.
I am familiar with dressy seamasters, connies, etc from the 1950s - 1960s but this one looks likes nothing I've seen so far.

It's a 40mm gold plated case. Nice honeycomb dial with gold star and equipped with a caliber 265.

It's not in an amazing condition, mainly the case back that almost doesn't clip on the case anymore because of missing steel on the edges.

Do you think it's all original?
What is the story behind the gold star?
Is it uncommon?

Thank you in advance for any information you could tell me about it!

No clue on the gold star, but it's overall condition reduces it to a movement and dial use only

I seem to remember something about Brazil or Argentina and those stars.

produced around 1947-1950. Most likely closer to 1950.

it might clean up well.

A nice looking watch, would be a good wearer. 40mm is enormous for the time.

Those were red stars and were from Brazil.

Not sure about gold stars.

Thank you guys

So the gold and red stars are not related. I will try to find more about it!

From what you say despite the poor condition it's original, that's the most important to me.

Meanwhile it runs well so I wear it on a Nato to hold the case back in place and am happy !
