Hi, I'm looking for a vintage skeleton watch depicting something from ancient Greece as a present for my partner. I have no idea what I'm looking for, how to tell authenticity and what price I should pay. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thank you, Rachel.
Rachel the vast majority of vintage Skeleton wristwatches are fake or junk grade pocket watches modified after the fact, and finding something depicting ancient Greece is going to be next to impossible in that.
This is Vintage pocket Omega with Ancient Greek decor These are luxury skeleton stopwatches .......and these are skeleton gold Speedmaster Pro These pictures are from Omega Museum in Bienne. All are rare and difficult to find with high price tag. For example the skeletonized Speedy Pro worth about USD 40 k right now. I believe the others' price are even higher. Possibly you can try to find in high end auction like Antiquorum, Christies or Bonham ......or high end watch dealers. Otherwise as dsio stated mostly are fake and junk.
