I am in no way disparaging him or anyone.
He does this part-time and works full-time in another field.
His specialty is pocket watches.
He belongs to associations but has no factory accreditation.
My feeling is that this may be a fantastic watchmaker to consider for future work.
He may prove to be the next Al.
I have a nice '51 manual wind cal. 283 I may consider sending him.
But a Speedy?

I'm attempting to reach someone who did have a '60 Speedy serviced by him, so I will see what he says before I really make up my mind.

I think I'd rather kill a kitten than pay $600 for a service on a Quartz watch.

Get professional to do a professional job. I would Stop trying to get a bargain deal out of everything. Sometimes it's just better to be coherent with your taste.

I am not meaning to offend but some times you have to pay for good things.
Since buying the deal, almost Speedy Pro you have talked about aftermarket bezels, $30 clasps and now cheap as chips services. I have to draw the line at this point as I think you are heading down a slippery slope. All this brings into account when you are selling other Omega watches as you have. I can see that everyone above has tried to help you as that is what we do but the current trend is hard for me to help other than agree with @Nobel Prize and @UncleBuck and advise that some times you have to Pay the Piper.

·Its all about priorities...if you can afford to buy a Speed Master...you can afford to spend a few hundred more to get a qualified tech to work on it. Skip a night out to dinner a few times over the next six months and your in.
Have you tried Riki with Time Care in Florida? ...he is one of the best and his prices are extremely reasonable.

I have taken all members' advice thus far. I bought an OEM bezel as suggested, purchased RHD's deployant clasps as suggested by multiple people, and now I'm simply trying to find the best watchmaker to service my Speedy in the near future that won't set me back $600+.
My main goal is to have an Omega, which, thankfully, I am lucky enough to now have to myself.
Honestly, I do not disregard peoples' advice here (as I think is obvious from the above statement). I value everything that people tell me, and I do take it seriously.
With that said, there's no way I can have an Omega service center or an authorized Omega watchmaker service this for me. It's simply not attainable at this point. Maybe it will be six months from now, but I will definitely have to save.
I do appreciate everyone's advice, and I certainly don't want it to come off as if I don't. Seriously. You guys are a huge help 😀
If I find any reason to be uncomfortable with the watchmakers I'm looking into, I will not utilize their services. You have my word. I'm not willing to put my Speedy's well-being at stake if I feel sketched out with a certain watchmaker.
EDIT: I should add, the $30 bezel was a stretch, but I was simply curious to see what peoples' thoughts were on it. They were negative, which is why I went OEM.
As far as clasps go, I'm not a stickler for OEM Omega deployant clasps, so I'm perfectly fine going with the RHD clasps that Archer himself recommended.

I've wanted an Omega for well over a year. A small amount of extra cash presented me with the opportunity and I jumped on it. Since then, I've been able to sell enough watches (trading up, etc), that I finally had enough money to do this. So I'm pretty excited 😀
Drinking and partying happen occasionally... But watches are the priority [emoji106]
