Howdy. My '69 Speedmaster is in the mail (New York last I checked, from Athens on its way to Japan) and I'm already looking at different bands to dress it up. Can anybody recommend a decent mesh band, one with link ends as opposed to the bar? At some point in the future I'll find me an Omega one but for now I'm just looking for the best bang for the buck.
If I find a used Omega band for that I would snatch it, but so far all I saw on the bay was new ones for $400+ This is the thing; I saw on amazon $25 bands, and close to $100 bands. If previous experiences with this sort of things hold, some of those near-$100 bands are better, some are the same as the $25 bands that are being listed for more. I'm trying to find a good quality band while avoiding paying too much for a lesser quality one.
Well I have bought three branded Omega mesh bracelets (20, 22, 24) in the last 6-24 months and they in the $225-250 range. They were like new, but used. I bought them from WatchUseek members and one from ebay. I just looked on ebay, and wow, my how times have changed. I also bought a cheap $50 at it was fine, but certainly no comparison to the Omega mesh.
From a good strap/bracelet maker out of Germany https://www.jurgensgermany.com/vmar...category_id=25&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1
I have two of these, excellent quality. Comes in two lengths (or maybe three?) so get the right size to start off with. Tom
I have also only heard good about wjean. Strapcode make some mesh that look almost identical to the Omega mesh and is on paper, but I have heard several say they are not worth it, even though they are much cheaper than Omega mesh.
