I found this Planet Ocean at a local Pawn Shop. It appears to be legit, but it does not come with any papers. Can anyone confirm that I have the right model#? Does it look legit? This will be my first Omega purchase. How much does it hurt the value if there is no box, papers, etc?
I am 0 for 200 at this. Always wrong but the pearl is missing and the markers, date, and second hand look very faded. I would be cautious of course but let the Jedi masters on here chime in. Good luck Sir.
Thank ctime3. The markers are definitely a creamish color. Could they have faded or do they just look fake to you?
Very possible my friends brother has that model. Perhaps that one saw more sun? The end of the second hand is red too. This sounds odd but it would be great if an AD or boutique could verify the authenticity. But I assume it is real I would ask for a hefty discount because of the fade (even though it looks cool) and the fact the pearl is missing. My PO 2500 has a Red--Tip so that is good. But like everyone said, markers are awfully faded. and regarding the peral, I don't think that one came with one
vintage is in I paid $3750 for the one pictured, albeit fuzzily, above and that was about 6 months ago. But then again I didn't push the seller on Chrono24 as I really wanted the watch. Not sure what the current asking price, but I would say the case could be made as a 20% de-valutation, but that is a SWAG
I don't think they're that faded, I think it mag be the photo conditions. Ask for a shot outdoors on a flat white surface like white paper. If it was faded it would be weird as they're not tritium. I do think it originally if a white button or pearl on the bezel, don't think it would be an empty space as is. Could be wrong As for the price 1600 is not that bad, but make an offer for 1200 and perhaps settle at 1400
I like Nobel Prize's reply. Perhaps you can tell him that it probably needs a service and knock off $500 since Omwga charges $525?
Markers on dial look sloppily rely end to me. If they did that bad a job on those, then I do wonder how well they serviced the co-axial escapement in this watch... If you send this to Omega I'm pretty sure they will insist on a new dial... Cheers, Al
I don't know. A lot seems off to me. Pearl, lume, date font and color, length of the seconds hand, hev position... Might be the pictures though - difficult to say. Not sure I would want to spend any money on this...
Some more photos might help... but this looks off to me.. I wouldn't touch it. The font on the dial alone looks sloppy, the letters and numbers are not crisp , the 'Seamaster" looks crooked...the engraving on the back looks shallow... all looks to be the work of a Chinese factory to me... in natural light, the AR will be a big tell... general gestalt, I would pass
I'm not an expert, but after comparing this to the one I'm wearing and taking into account everyone's prior comments of potential indues, they really look the same to me. $1500 is a great price. But if you are not sure, I would pass. Can you have them open in case back to look at the movement or put a refundable deposit and take it to a watchmaker for an inspection?
