I've been offered a Longines Ref. 9000-5, never used in the original box and with the original papers stamped by the retailer at the time. The seller is asking me more than the double of the 400/500 euros (from what i've seen) that these watches in used condition are usually sold. My question is: does the unused condition of the watch with complete set, deserves the premium? I'm very tempted but i would like to hear your opinions
That's what i feared, pictures being the brain switch. The seller has opposed to pictures when i talked to him, i'm gonna insist...
Having a watch with it's box and papers will certainly add to the value a little bit, more than double is, perhaps, too much. Is it supposed to be a NOS ?
You mean to say you've been considering buying a watch before you've even seen pictures of it? Or do you mean he isn't allowing you to share them?
No. Unused or barely used with box and papers is how is announced. I handled the watch and is in very good condition, i know how much the watch worth but i'm with difficulties in giving a price to the box and papers...
The fish is out of water and the seller smells fishy to me. On a NOS watch, the medallion should look something like this: Your potential watch is not NOS. More like old, tired case. But the original box is a nice touch and hard to find. Without a match of the movement serial number to the hangtag, I'm going to ignore it. This is a $400 watch, max. Maybe an extra $100 for the box. And even that is gambling that the movement is in good shape. My bullshitometer is slammed over to the right. Please run away from this seller. gatorcpa
Case looks a bit polished and medallion has lost it's lacquer, as Evan has pointed out. Is that a Portugal tax stamp on 11 O'Clock lug?
