Hi, hoping somebody can advise. I have just bought a Longines le Grander Classique quartz 37mm MOP with diamond marker, ref L47662877.

I am trying to set the time, but when I pull the pin out the minute hand keeps going round and moves every 1 minute as normal (it jumps once every minute, rather than many small movements). I was expecting the minute hand to stop completely whilst the pin/crown is pulled out. It has pulled out about 1mm, and there is a definite click. It does not have date complication so the crown just has 1 pulled out position. I have not tried adjusting the time yet as I wanted to ensure the minute hand is stopped first.

I contacted the store (AD) and they checked another 2 watches and they behaved the same. The user manual is a generic one and not specific for this model.

Please can someone advise?

It would seem that your watch doesn’t hack when you have the crown out in a setting position. Likely because there is no seconds hand. The hack is useful on a watch that has a sweep seconds hand. The hack facilitates setting such a watch to the second. Go ahead, set the time. You’ll do no harm.

Thanks for the info. You are right, the watch does not have a seconds hand, a key detail I forgot to mention. On all my watches I normally do not set the time per se, instead I pull out the crown to stop the watch then push the crown back in when the time on the watch matches the current time. So sounds like I cannot use this method on this watch as the minute hand does not stop moving.

Your minute hand advanced once per minute. On a watch with a sweep seconds hand, the minute hand advances 60 times per minute. You really didn’t have to mention that your watch doesn’t have a seconds hand. It’s a foregone conclusion.
