Any Longines marked CHRONOMETER on the dial is a good find, but this on filled a slot for the caliber 6651 (28,800 bph post 1972 U-C family) that was void in my box.

The only thing I wish was in better shape was the caseback logo.

I'll live with it until I find a replacement. Believe it or not, this is my first chronometer Longines, and at 37 mm wide it should be a very wearable watch.

So you finally made that offer! That watch had been out there for a least a year with no takers. Hope you got a few bucks off the asking price. :)

    Congrats!

Looking at the shape and layout I have to say that this has all of the qualities of a "Perfect" Dennis watch.

Yes, I got whole fistful of money off. I had seen it months ago and passed it up because I was supposed to be diverting funds elsewhere, but resistance is futile.

Pretty close - if the caseback logo was better I'd have bought it at full asking price if necessary. I took into account what it might cost if a replacement popped up and sent my offer. It was nice to see it in my Purchases section of My eBay the next morning.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

I think we need to chat in early March so I remember what to bring - or we both need an actual list. :p

My brain will be mush by then. I'll be working 60 hours+ at that point. I'll be lucky to remember my name.

    Please call in March,

After wearing it all day at work, I have to say Steve guessed correctly. 35 - 41 mm C-cases fit my wrist perfectly. Add the partially hidden crown to this, and it's so comfortable that I forgot I was wearing it. The dial also has a brushed silver tone that changes from dark to light depending on the angle light hits it. Liking this one a lot!

ps - the caseback logo is in much better shape than the seller's pictures show.

Nice dial, nice case. Case and movement have unique serial numbers?

Yes. Around 1969 or 1970, Longines restarted their movement serial numbers at 50,000,000. Their case serial numbers seemed to take over where the movement serial numbers left off. My pink gold U-C caliber 431 has a movement serial number of 50,418,958 which I guess is 1970, and this ss U-C has a serial number of 51,252,177 which is probably 1972 or 1973.
