I am interested in this Longines 6666-9 but cannot find much info on the internet to determine if it is an original watch. Also does the movement look to be in good condition? Movement seems to be missing a screw, is that problematic or an easy screw to replace?

The watch does not take a case back gasket. Is that something I should worry about? I would never shower or swim with the watch, but would it be okay for hand washing and rain? It is a serviced watch from omega enthusiasts.

That is a very reputable seller. I have purchased several watches from him in the past and have never had an issue. I think that if it's exactly what you want you should go for it. I actually think it's good value considering it's Patek like esthetic.

Hope this helps,

Thomas

$1250?

A ludicrously high price. One shouldn't pay more than around one third of that.

Okay thanks guys looks like I’ll keep looking.

A general question about vintage watches, should I avoid a watch what doesn’t take a case back gasket? I would never wear a vintage watch in the shower or swimming but is no gasket okay for normal hand washing is occasional rain?

Dear Thomas:
Considering you’re a dealer, might you be a little sensitive or biased regarding pricing issues?

We all understand dealers have to make a living and I suspect many members have trusted and friendly dealers. In normal cases however, dealer prices are justified by the time, expertise and funds dealers spend obtaining really good pieces, some of which may be hard to find.

However here, as others have said, the OP watch is not hard to find, not a hot reference, and its condition is average at best.

Best regards,
S

If you plan on getting caught in the rain or splashing your watch, something "waterproof" would be a better option than the reference above.

IIRC that seller’s watches are all serviced. Still doesn’t justify the price for me, but possibly a good place to buy for people who aren’t too concerned about price and just want a solid ready to go piece.

Probably best to keep your vintage watches completely dry. When it rains, I wear a pressure tested watch. Why take chances.
