For those residing in central London, you might have heard of Tate Modern's exhibition, Christian Marclay’s 'The Clock' 2010. To summarise: a 24 hour long video montage made up thousands of films, each showing a scene of actual time which are edited to flow real time. I have visited this exhibition twice, and had much fun identifying the timepieces which are featured. A considerable proportion of films which act as material for this video montage came from the black and white era, as well as notable 70s/80s features. As a vintage watch lover, this is certainly a treat for me. Some pictures, please excuse the picture quality: "Paul ___" Tempted to say Paul Buhre. Not too far from Tate Modern actually...Fenchurch St... Definitely 60s/70s... Interesting one...never seen this type before... Many pocket watches... And - Many many more Cartier tanks - Definitely saw an IWC Pilot Mark VXI - Bonus one that I caught (but couldn't snap in time), a LeJour Chronograph - One of the films is distinctively Wong Kar Wai: could be In the Mood for Love. The actor was wearing a gold JLC Reverso Truly a treat for us. I do wonder, how many of those seated in the gallery truly appreciate the vintage examples displayed throughout.
Tate has a significant collection of art by British artist, Charles Spencelayh. This is one of Spencelayh’s works that they don’t have. From an un-used 78-year old calendar. Titled The Craftsman.
