The BBC has just started to air an adaption of John Le Carré’s Little Drummer Girl - it’s set in the late 70’s with plenty of Car (NSU Ro80 etc.) and Watch action already featured in the plot in Episode 1. “Wow!” I said, “I know” said MrsN, “Just Wow!” “So chunky and big and golden” I said “Yes, Isn’t he” she said interrupting “He? It’s a Watch? I think that it’s a solid 22 carat Omega Constellation with an integral bracelet” I said “Hmmm, of course it is dear, whatever” she said Still it’s nice that there’s something for us both to watch on a Sunday night I suppose. Damn, those Scandinavians
I think Nathan meant 22 carrot...not certain if that’s the shirt color...or if he’s hiding them...perhaps that is connielinguist insider speak...
Looks like a great series, I hope ABC (AUSTRALIAN Broadcasting Corporation) or even a FTA commercial channel can pick it up quickly, not in five years time as usual .
I spotted the Constellation too, well you couldn't really miss it. The last TV adapation of a JLC novel was excellent and this one's by the same team. The first episode was very promising, my only problem now being to avoid looking at the Wiki page to find out what happens to her in the end! Resisting the temptation so far......
Looks like this could be a good series, they were certainly making a statement with that Constellation quite a chunk of gold! I’m not sure you would want to flash it around like that these days. Incidentally if I’m not mistaken there is a similar one for sale on the forum at the moment.
I've just started watching the first episode and evidently I wasn't the only one to notice the Omega Constellation here. I think it's a ref 166.059 rather like this one.
We had it in the UK. "What's that, Skip? Three of 'em? And they're going to rob the bank at 1 o'clock?" A friend of mine had a horse called Scipio. When he moved it to a new stable, next time he visited he found they'd painted "Skippy-Oh" over the door. We gave up on Little Drummer Girl halfway through the third episode. Bogged down after a promising start.
Sinn did, back in 1995, they called it the „Goldchronograph“ 22k, somehow hardened to 220HV (according to Sinn the same hardness as stainless steel) I handled one of those just recently, quite an impressive and heavy watch. Sorry for the thread drift! This looks interesting! I will definitely give it a try. I just read that the director is the same as from Night Manager. I binged „The Night Manager“ in 2 days and Michael Shannon is one of my favorite character artists. ( Watch Bug, or Take Shelter). I won’t even watch the trailer, I hate to get spoiled. Cheers, Max
